Help us get the gold at the CanWest Curling Competition

Your support will help UBC student-athletes compete at the Canada West Curling Championship and pursue their goal to become the first-ever UBC Curling team to represent Western Canada on the national stage. With your generosity, our student-athletes can focus on performing their best without the financial barriers of travel and competition costs. Together, we can help elevate curling at UBC and inspire future participation in the sport across British Columbia.

Project Description

UBC’s men’s and women’s curling teams train and compete at an elite level while maintaining strong academic performance. As competition opportunities grow, so do the associated costs—particularly travel, accommodation and transportation for major events such as the CanWest Curling Championship.

Your support ensures our student-athletes can participate fully in these events without financial strain, allowing them to concentrate on representing UBC with pride, commitment and excellence.

Challenges and Impact of Your Support

Participation in national-level competition requires significant travel and logistical expenses. Your gift directly supports UBC’s curling student-athletes by helping cover essential costs including flights, local transportation, accommodation and meals—ensuring they arrive ready to compete at their best.

These athletes have earned the opportunity to represent UBC on the CanWest and, potentially, U SPORTS stages. Your contribution empowers them to pursue this milestone and strengthens the future of curling at UBC and across the province.

About the UBC Curling Team

The UBC Thunderbirds Curling teams bring together talented student-athletes from across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. They train multiple times per week, focusing on technical skill development, strategy, mental preparation and off-ice conditioning.

The teams compete in provincial and national circuits through Canada West, U SPORTS, Curl BC and Curling Canada, participating in BC Curling Tour events, local competitions, and year-round training and team activities. Their dedication reflects UBC’s commitment to fostering excellence in both athletics and academics.
