Fuel the Flight – UBC Baseball

Support UBC Baseball’s 2025 Season! Your gift powers our gear, travel, and academic goals—help the Thunderbirds soar this season!

Project Description

UBC Baseball is proud to be one of Canada’s premier collegiate programs—where student-athletes thrive.

As we launch our 2025 campaign, your support is more important than ever. Every contribution will directly benefit the team by providing access to high-performance equipment, enhanced training, travel opportunities and essential academic resources. Your gift today directly fuels our success allowing our student-athletes to train, compete and excel at the highest level.

Challenges and Impact of Your Support

UBC student-athletes face the dual pressure of excelling in the classroom and on the field, often while managing financial strain. Your contribution helps to reduce these financial burdens and provide essential support to the UBC Baseball program and its student-athletes.

Every gift strengthens the program and gives our athletes the opportunity to focus on what matters most: their physical and mental development, which are crucial to their success on and off the field. With your support, UBC Baseball will continue to set the gold standard for success, in athletics and academics.

About UBC Baseball

It was an incredible season for the 2024 Thunderbirds, finishing 39-19 overall and earning just their second-ever appearance at the NAIA World Series. The Thunderbirds have established themselves as one of the premier collegiate baseball programs, capturing the Cascade Conference Regular Season title and sweeping through the NAIA Opening Round tournament to reach the 10 team World Series. The senior led squad set a new standard for the program with an 8th-place finish. With strong returning pitchers, rising underclassmen and key transfer athletes, the Birds are poised for another deep run next season.

2024 Team Highlights:

  • Five players named to the Cascade All Conference Team: Jonny McGill, Trent Lenihan, Aaron Marsh, Will Anderson and Ryan Heppner. Lenihan also earned Gold Glove Honors.
  • Jonny McGill was also recognized nationally earning a spot on the NAIA All- American 3rd team as an outfielder.
  • In the classroom, fourteen players earned Academic All-Canadian status (over one-third of the roster achieved an overall average above 80%)

And big news, for the second straight year two UBC players signed professional contracts. In the 2025 MLB Draft, pitcher Ryan Heppner was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 19th round and outfielder Jon McGill joined the Anaheim Angels as a free agent.
