Memorial Slo-Pitch Tournament for Men’s Mental Health

Join the Armed and Hammered Memorial Slo-Pitch team as we come together to honor the memory of our two beloved friends, Dylan Forsythe and Liam Castle, and raise funds for men’s mental health.

Project Description

We are deeply saddened by the loss of two cherished souls who were not only part of our Langley mixed slo-pitch team, but also incredible friends who touched the lives of everyone around them. In honor of our beloved teammates and friends, we are hosting a memorial tournament that celebrates their lives and raises awareness for an essential cause: men’s mental health.

The tournament will be held at Macleod Athletic Park’s four main diamonds by the Rotary Fieldhouse on August 26 and 27. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the local UBC organization, HeadsUpGuys, which focuses on addressing the pressing issue of men’s mental health.

Impact of Your Support

In Canada, men account for three out of four suicide deaths, with suicide being the 2nd leading cause of death for men under the age of 50. This amounts to approximately 3,000 deaths per year, or roughly eight men dying per day, with untreated depression being the leading risk factor for suicide

Yet, we know that suicide is preventable with the right support and treatments in place. We need to help men learn the symptoms of depression and remove barriers that prevent them from reaching out to friends, family, and mental health professionals.

HeadsUpGuys supports men in their recovery from depression, reduces their risk of suicide, and inspires them to live healthier lives. Your gift will help us remember Dylan and Liam and help others who are struggling with their mental health.
