PARCaThon
Make a donation to support PARC participants taking on a unique challenge this October.
Story Description
From the morning of October 15 to the end of the day on October 18, PARC participants will be working out to raise money to support PARC.
There are two parts to the PARCaThon:
- The Ramp Challenge: Participants will get themselves up the atrium ramp from the ground floor to the third floor as many times as possible.
- The Cardio Challenge: Participants will use upper body cardio machines at PARC to rack up as many minutes or kilometres as they can.
Challenges & Impact of Your Support
PARC operations have been supported by donations and grants – but the program currently has no ongoing sustainable source of funding. Funds raised at our PARCaThon will help support the operating costs of the facility.
About PARC
PARC is part of the ICORD Spinal Cord Injury Research Centre in the UBC Faculty of Medicine and Vancouver Coastal Health, with research overseen by ICORD faculty. Day-to-day operations are supervised by student staff (UBC Kinesiology undergraduates) and volunteers who assist people with varying abilities to work towards leading active and healthy lives. PARC has more than 400 registered participants.
Everyone at PARC is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with spinal cord injury and creating an inclusive environment that fosters a sense of belonging and an active exchange of ideas between the community of individuals living with SCI and ICORD researchers.
