Support UBC Thunderbirds Baseball

UBC Baseball is a high-level collegiate program that looks to provide its players with the best student-athlete experience. Funding received from generous donors will aid travel opportunities, equipment, apparel, and most importantly, provide additional academic support.

Project Description

UBC Baseball is incredibly grateful to have weathered the past few years of challenges, managing to keep our athletes thriving, competing and earning a top-notch education. Support for this campaign directly offsets operational costs that the program will incur this season, both at the team and individual athlete level. It’s imperative that our players continue to have access to high-performance, well maintained equipment in order to develop, compete and perform at the highest level.

Our team is always striving to improve upon its record-setting 26 Major League Baseball draft picks and our standing as the premier baseball program in Canada, shining both in athletics and academics. With your help, all funds raised will directly benefit our student athletes, by covering operational and equipment costs needed to represent UBC in the NAIA and compete at the highest level in North America. The student athletes and staff thank you very much for your support!

Challenges and Impact of Your Support

Today’s student-athletes continue to balance the financial pressures of being both high-achieving athletes and students. This campaign aims to provide financial support for the program and individual student-athletes, so they can focus on the physical and mental demands that are required to compete and ultimately, succeed.

About the UBC Baseball Team

The 2022-23 UBC Thunderbirds Baseball season was one for the record books! The team was able to achieve some amazing milestones for the program. This season the ‘Birds were named Conference Regular Season Co-Champions, won the program’s first-ever CCC Conference Tournament with a win over Oregon Tech, and were ranked 27th in a National NAIA Poll. The team had a hard-fought battle in the first round of the NAIA World Series but lost a close 7-6 decision to the eventual National Champions, Westmount University. Even though the team did not advance to the World Series final, the experience they gained from being in big game situations is priceless.

UBC Baseball had four players who were selected to the First Team All-Conference and two Golden Glove winners! Off the field 8 players earned Daktronics NAIA Baseball Scholarships and thirteen players were recognized as Academic All Canadian.

The team looks to build on the momentum of this past season over the summer with a core group of players returning and already gearing up for another run at a World Series title!
