Help the Class of 2024 UBC M.Sc. Audiology students travel to the Canadian Academy of Audiology annual conference in Ottawa this October!
Project Description
The UBC Master of Science (M.Sc.) Audiology program is a professional master’s program that allows graduates to practice as audiologists – healthcare professionals specializing in hearing science, and diagnosing and managing hearing loss. This year, the Class of 2024 M.Sc. Audiology students hope to raise enough money to cover transportation and accommodation costs to attend the Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) annual conference, a four-day workshop from October 11-14 in Ottawa, Ontario.
As graduate students, the CAA annual conference will give us the unique opportunity to network with clinicians, industry representatives, and other audiology students. The conference has an abundance of workshops that will enable us to learn about specialized topics and current research from distinguished speakers, as well as get hands-on experience with the latest technology. This conference will help prepare our class for our upcoming audiology careers, and allow us to serve our future clients better by expanding our knowledge, and personal and professional development as clinicians.
Challenges and Impact of Your Support
You can help make a significant impact on the Class of 2024 M.Sc. Audiology students! The CAA conference trip will be paid out-of-pocket, with travel, accommodation, and conference fees adding up to an average of around $700 each. Your support will help us greatly in covering these expenses, and any funds we receive will be divided among us evenly.
About the Class of 2024 M.Sc. Audiology Students
We are a small class of eleven students who have grown incredibly close during our time in the M.Sc. Audiology program at UBC’s School of Audiology and Speech Sciences (SASS) in the Faculty of Medicine. We are a part of the only program in Western Canada to offer education for future audiologists, and come from diverse backgrounds and experiences that have brought us together to study audiology. As a class, we are passionate about advocating for hearing health and technologies, and are looking forward to becoming practicing clinicians. As future clinicians, we are committed to lifelong learning, and we continually seek ways to enrich our education outside the classroom.
