The UBC Women’s Hockey Team, staff and alumni are working together towards one common goal – bringing home UBC’s first ever Women’s Hockey National Championship. The team has been on the cusp many times, winning 4 Canada West Championships over the past 9 seasons, along with a bronze and silver medal at U Sports Nationals. Just last year, the Thunderbirds had an outstanding season, coming so close once again, before losing 1-0 in a devastating first round loss, the only goal they would let in all tournament. That defeat has only made this T-bird team even more motivated this year. The players have put in the work during the off season and the group is focused on getting back to the National Championship. The program has been presented with a unique preseason opportunity to compete at an exclusive tournament in Montreal, the same site of the 2022/23 U Sports Nationals. This tournament provides an amazing opportunity to compete against some of the best hockey programs in the country and will serve as an important team building experience. This fundraising campaign will help with some of the major costs associated with attending this tournament. Lend your support to these incredible athletes as they strive for greatness in the game they love, while pursuing academic goals and contributing to the larger female sport community.

About the UBC Women’s Hockey Team
The UBC Women’s Hockey Team also continues to find success outside of the ice rink. In 2021-2022, the team roster celebrated 10 Academic All-Canadian student-athletes. The players studied and trained intensely all year long, boasting a team-average GPA of 76% at the end of the season. The team looks to maintain their success for the upcoming season on and off the ice.
