Baseball at UBC is expanding. Our Junior Varsity Program, as a pilot initiative, is joining the Canadian College Baseball Conference. Although the Junior Varsity program has been offered to the student body since 2016 at UBC, we’ve consistently heard feedback that something was missing from the players’ experience. They benefited from outstanding facilities, knowledgeable coaches dedicated to development, and a meaningful—but short-lived—competition schedule made up primarily of exhibition games. Without a formal league to compete in, the program always felt incomplete.
In 2025, the Canadian College Baseball Conference recognized our program and granted the Junior Varsity team the opportunity to join their league, with our inaugural season set for 2026. This milestone sparked a full rebrand and a restructuring of our offerings. Joining the CCBC introduces the competitive element that had been missing, signaling a renewed direction for the program as we set our sights on league play and the pursuit of a championship in May.
To compete with pride, our athletes need proper gear. This is a historic moment for Junior Varsity Baseball at UBC, but our budget is limited. With your support, we can outfit every player and ensure they represent the university at the highest level. About the University Baseball Club
For nearly a decade, UBC had a Varsity Baseball Team and a Junior Varsity Team. Now, after tremendous effort from some key stakeholders, support from UBC Athletics and Recreation, and great interest from the players, the University Baseball Club at UBC has a new identity, and will compete in the Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC).
Situated on the beautiful campus of the University of British Columbia, the University Baseball Club is comprised of full-time students who also want to continue chasing the baseball dream. Player fees give players access to some of the best facilities in Canada, professional training, friendships which last forever, and the honour of competing in the CCBC.
The team is together approximately 90 times in the fall with the goals of improving baseball skills and improving functional strength. Further preparation occurs in January and February with the regular season starting in March and the CCBC Champion is crowned at the end of May.
