UBC University Singers 2026 Tours

Help UBC University Singers shine! They’ve earned two prestigious invitations to perform at top choral conferences in North America.

Project Description

Performance opportunities are essential for the continued growth and success of the UBC University Singers and for every choir member to realize their aspirations as emerging musicians. This spring, we have an extraordinary chance to perform at two of North America’s most prestigious choral conferences—and we need your support to make it happen.

American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division Conference
San Jose, California | March 4–7, 2026
UBC University Singers is the only non-American choir invited and one of just three university-level ensembles performing. We’ll proudly represent the UBC School of Music, Vancouver, and Canada on this international stage.

Choral Canada National Conference – Podium 2026
Victoria, British Columbia | May 14–17, 2026
We are the only collegiate choir invited to perform which is a tremendous honour and showcase for Canadian choral excellence.

The UBC University Singers will present dynamic programs featuring rarely performed and technically challenging works, compositions by BIPOC and female-identifying composers, and celebrated pieces from Canada’s rich choral tradition.

The total cost of these tours is $70,000, covering travel expenses for all 36 singers—approximately $2,200 per student. This is a significant investment for many of our singers. With your support, we’re working to close the gap, ensuring that every singer can be part of this life-changing experience. Your gift helps cover essential travel costs like flights, accommodations, and ground transportation.

Challenges and Impact of Your Support

Behind every note are students balancing studies, part-time jobs, and life in an expensive city. Your contribution ensures that cost isn’t a barrier for any singer who has earned their place. Together, we can make sure these talented musicians represent UBC, Vancouver, and Canada with pride. Join us in making this moment possible. Every contribution brings us closer to the stage!

In support of this campaign, the Senft Family has generously agreed to match donations up to $15,000, doubling the impact of your gift.

About UBC University Singers

University Singers is the premier choral ensemble of the University of British Columbia School of Music led by Dr. Graeme Langager, Director of Choral Activities. This 36-voice select ensemble performs the most advanced and exciting music written for chamber choir spanning the Renaissance to the modern day. The ensemble also performs major works with orchestra each season, including the standard repertoire of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Stravinsky, Elgar, Verdi, Mahler and others. As well, the ensemble has performed several new works and premieres. The University Singers have won several awards, including the CBC National Choral Competition, and the BBC International Choral Competition, and is an active touring ensemble including local, North American, and international destinations. The UBC Choral Program is one of Canada’s finest choral programs, boasting five ensembles comprised of over 325 students annually, and maintains a vibrant graduate program in choral conducting.
