Help UBC Rocket Fuel Our Next Launch
UBC Rocket had a strong launch in June. Now the team is preparing Cloudburst to fly again in August.
Cloudburst, our 30,000-foot commercial off-the-shelf rocket, performed exceptionally well on its first flight. Before it can return to the launch pad, we need to inspect the rocket, make repairs and test key components.
Another group is also preparing a high-performance drone and thrust vectoring system for Launch Canada.
Project Description
UBC Rocket is raising $1,500 to support both projects this summer.
A successful launch does not mean the work is finished. Rockets experience wear during flight, and parts may need to be repaired or replaced before they can safely fly again. Our thrust vectoring team is also continuing to test and refine its drone ahead of competition.
Funds raised will help cover materials, replacement parts, testing resources and competition costs.
For students, this is where classroom knowledge gets tested against a real flight system. We can see what worked, figure out what did not and make changes before the next launch.
Challenges and Impact of Your Support
Our team has a short window to prepare Cloudburst for August while also getting the thrust vectoring system ready for Launch Canada.
That means more testing, repairs and refinements over the coming weeks. It also means costs can add up quickly when parts or materials need to be replaced.

About UBC Rocket
UBC Rocket is a team of 110 students from different faculties and disciplines who share an interest in rocketry. Our mission is to foster hands-on engineering experience, while providing our members and the broader community with opportunities to learn and engage with aerospace engineering.
The team includes groups working on aerostructures, internal structures, avionics, recovery systems, payload experiments, propulsion and team operations.
Students get hands-on experience designing, testing and improving real flight systems.
Cloudburst has already flown once this summer. With your support, the team can get it ready to fly again.
